Melissa Brown's Original Gourdfolk - since 1991

Welcome
to the wonderful world of Gourdfolk! I began creating my Gourdfolk in 1991 in my home studio.
I made my first few Santas for a friend for her holiday party centerpieces. The folks who attending her party asked where
she got them, and well, the rest is history! In the few weeks before Christmas that year I received orders for more than I
could finish. Over the past almost twenty years (hard to believe) I have expanded the line to include many other characters.
Some have stuck around while others have had their moment in the sun and have been retired - like I was for the past few years!
I took some time off to attend to some family business and to explore ceramics, which I have come to love. I hope you'll take
the time to visit my Etsy shop http://cedarpocket.etsy.com. I'm also starting a blog - yep - I'm going over to the dark side - but
it's a way to keep you posted about what's going on here... If you're interested just scroll down and check it out!

Whistle While I work...
Hi there! So I've been busy in the studio getting ready for the Village Venture show in Claremont, California on October 23rd.
It will be the first street show I've done in over five years! We're having to dig out the tents, and table, and drapery -
and I'm having to produce work! I must admit, after all this time, I'm pretty rusty!
Remember too, if you'd like to
come to my First Ever Open Studio (notice the capital letters?) on December 4th, email me so I can send you times and directions.
I'm also making lots of smaller ceramic "gifties" with the gift giving season in mind. Thank
you for stopping by! Melissa

So, I have to change the date for my Open Studio show to give myself more time to make pieces. My ceramics
are selling well and it's all I can do to keep up with orders right now. I've not been able to stock pile enough to have anything
to show you! THE NEW DATE FOR THE OPEN
HOUSE/STUDIO IS DECEMBER 4, 2010 I promise not to postpone it again!

So, most of you know me. If one of anything is good, a hundred are better! I've been getting ready for Claremont and my Open
House on the 16th of October by making ceramic Jack 'o Lanterns! These little babies are great to sit on the window sill or
on your desk. Coming next week more jack - but these hold a tea light!
And, to answer your burning question (pun intended)
I am working on the gourds too!
